["Trying to" is a slightly more accurate representation of the poring Yuna is doing to these textbooks than just leaving it at that, but she's doing, at best, an okay job of the trying thing. Every time she tries to focus on the text the words get too dense and her eyes glaze over and she's doodling on her paper instead of taking notes. Fierce as she can be when when she's casting spells in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Yuna cannot wrap her head around the homework.
With her attention so divided already, Evie's arrival doesn't startle her too badly, so the slight surprised look on her face is of her trying to figure out how she knows her.]
