Whatever goes on after Sirius says Harry's alive goes unnoticed for a while. James leans forward, wrapping his hands around his own neck while he hangs his head, trying to keep himself from bursting into another uncontrollable fit of tears.
He might never see his son again, but he's at least alive.
Lily's muttering something on the side and James doesn't even listen to her, he just breathes quietly for a moment. Because now he's facing an impossible task here, to learn to live with himself, or exist in death with himself, knowing that he failed his own child.
"Wait..." he pauses, looking up trying catch Sirius' eyes. "He's with Remus?"
