Owl Post meme, out of schedule

OWL MAIL

Wizards might not text with a mobile phone all that often, but they do have other methods of communication available when it comes to a quick chat with their mates (or enemies) at any hour of the day.

Post your characters, name, and preferences in the title area. You can include a generic starter if you want, or just post a blank. Anything goes.

1. OWL MAIL
This might be a little slow for quicker chats, especially if you're close by, but it's good to give the bird some exercise!

2. FIRE CALL
Just pop your head into that fire and chat away. Probably not recommended for drunken calls.

3. ENCHANTED MIRROR
Those little reflective surfaces that show your friend's face whenever you might need to tell them something. Maybe you can enchant them to connect to any reflective surface around your chosen contact? (Maybe not the bathroom...)

4. HOWLERS
Ever received one? It's supposed to be absolutely horrible.

5. OTHER MAGICAL COMMUNICATION
The ones above are hardly the only way wizards can reach out to each other for a quick chat. Feel free to invent new items or use something like enchanted notebooks that you write in and the other sees the text at their end. You could also use flying letters, talking portraits, or, well, cellphones, if you will.

[ all "typos" intended, also I would dare any Sirius or Peter to thread hop right here ]
siriusno: (resigned)

omg yes thread-jacking totally welcome

siriusno: (what was it you wanted me for)

2/3

[A second note floats over shortly after the first.]

siriusno: (you dreamed me up)

3/3

[Finally, a third, more hastily scribbled note hits the back of James' head, while Remus looks sheepishly away.]

grayblack: (dear boy what are you running from)

Settle a bet for me on behalf of Gryffindor House.

No one really wants to be taking Herbology

YES, and why is it always so squishy in the greenhouses?
No, I find it fascinating and would look for excuses to spend even more time there
siriusno: (talk about it somewhere only we know)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-16 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Not sure I'm entirely the right person to ask in this case. Herbology isn't so bad, is it?

To be honest, though, I'm with you on the odd squish factor, so I suppose I'll go with 'YES,' at least for the majority of Gryffindor house.
grayblack: (time keeps rolling on)

[personal profile] grayblack 2017-01-16 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I just don't UNDERSTAND, all the plants are in boxes and the floor is supposed to be stone, isn't it??

Herbology itself isn't so bad. Grudgingly.
siriusno: (and then you say)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-16 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps the floor warrants a bit of further investigation? Could be any number of things... lichen, moss, some sort of padding charm for some to prevent pots from breaking if they fall?
grayblack: (jump into the sun)

[personal profile] grayblack 2017-01-16 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't thought of a padding charm.
A padding charm gone wrong perhaps.
Holding in water.
Feeding the lichen and moss.
It's all a cycle that leads to the floors being DISGUSTING.
siriusno: (I walked across an empty land)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-16 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
I can't say I've found them to be overly offensive, but then, perhaps I simply haven't quiet the refined sensibilities as you.
grayblack: (dear boy what are you running from)

[personal profile] grayblack 2017-01-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well who could?
Most of this is brought to you thanks to the oddly persistent stains on my boots, which I'm choosing to believe are coming from the greenhouse floor and not any of you lot.
siriusno: (I knew the pathway)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-17 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Don't be so sure of that. I'll not name any names, but I think you know as well as I that certain Gryffindors are fond of pranks. Even long-running, time consuming ones.
grayblack: (everyone has got to be saved)

[personal profile] grayblack 2017-01-22 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean 'don't be so sure of that'? I was TRYING to give you lot the benefit of the doubt.
siriusno: (and left me here)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-24 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Godric, why? I never do. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to find my lot had something to do with it.

I suppose I'm not really pleading our case very well, am I?
grayblack: (dear boy what are you running from)

[personal profile] grayblack 2017-01-25 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that depends whether you're trying to plead the 'no we're entirely innocent' case, or the 'yes it's absolutely something to do with us' case, because that second one is going very well.
siriusno: (you dreamed me up)

[personal profile] siriusno 2017-01-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Granted, I'm not saying for a fact it was us. I don't have knowledge of any such prank personally, but that's not exactly saying much.
