THREE BROOMSTICKS: A MINGLE MEME After a long day, you find yourself tired, achey, in desperate need of a drink, and maybe even a pillow to rest your head on. Three Broomsticks is a warm refuge from the freezing cold snow gusting outside. "Welcome to the Three Broomsticks, luv! What can I get for you?" Madam Rosmerta is bright and cheery, heralding the bar where a number of wizards are already seated, wetting their whistles with ale or butterbeer. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Post with your character, noting their name/canon in the subject, and any preferences. 2. Roll a number and tag out to others. 3. Profit. TIMELINE a) NORMAL. It's just another day in your character's life. Nothing to see here. b) TIME HAS NO MEANING. Obligatory option to allow the different generations to interact. Is your character part of the younger crowd, and you always wanted an opportunity to thread with their parents? Maybe now, with the aid of a Time-Turner, you can make it happen! c) MISC. Make something up. It could be an AU universe where anyone from anywhere can be dragged into the Three Broomsticks. Parents or children can be your character's classmate or colleague, instead. The dead never died. Those from other worlds can have an established life, here. OPTIONS 01. PARTY ANIMAL. You're drunk, rowdy, and ready to have a good time. Did you receive good news? Crashing someone's get-together? Meeting up at the Three Broomsticks after work with your crew? Stopping by after watching the Quidditch World Cup? Who cares, let's shake things up (just be sure to give Rosmerta a good tip before you go.) 02. GOSSIP AND RUMORS. Drunks are always easy to coax into sharing the latest gossip in the wizarding world. The warm setting makes it even easier to get someone to open up to you, or for you to blab to someone else. 03. SCHEMING. There's a war going on, don't you know? Careful what you say during a meeting, you don't know who might be eavesdropping. Are you undercover? Trying to stay under the radar, whether it's the Ministry's, Order's, or a Voldemort-sympathizer on your tail? 04. LONER. There's no such thing as being alone here. Your character might not want the company, but company's coming anyway, pal. 05. THE DATING LIFE. Why would you think bringing your date here is a good idea? It's loud and rowdy, and you're sure to have someone crash into your intimate moment. Maybe that's a good thing, depending on who you're here with. Are you the crasher, or the crashee? 06. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT. Here we go. It's inevitable for some drunk to get a little too rowdy. Are you that drunk? The one on the receiving end? Are you giving poor Rosmerta a hand by breaking up the debacle? Or you could be the one who is helping the poor soul who got clobbered. Yikes, that'll leave a shiner. 07. FRISKY. When the booze is flowing, there's always a chance for someone to get hot and bothered. Did someone catch your eye at the bar? Flirting up a storm with your date? With a little liquid courage, you too can admit your eternal feelings for that one person... even if they're a sworn enemy. Take it upstairs, you crazy kids. 08. SPIKED DRINK. Didn't your mama ever tell you to keep an eye on your drink? Now look what's happened, you drank something you weren't supposed to! Are you the poor sap who got hit with a love potion, some luck, or are you suddenly sporting some rainbow-colored hair? Go crazy with the results! 09. FIRST MEETING. Everyone's got to meet for the first time at some point. Maybe you get along asap. Or it could take you some time to warm up to each other. Are you coworkers, and this is your way of extending the olive branch after a job gone good or bad? Maybe you need something from this person. 10. WILDCARD. Choose any option above, or make up your own scenario.

Barry bit off a yelp when whatever happened stopped happening. He'd grabbed Julian's coat when he'd tried to get Julian talk to him about his secrets. "Okay what just happened," he said looking around him.

"Damn," Julian swore as soon as he realised that he'd side-alonged... He couldn't exactly call Barry Allen a muggle. That would imply that he was normal. But neither was he a wizard and so he definitely should not be here. Worse, he shouldn't be here with Julian, nee Draco Malfoy. The reclusive Malfoy boy stepping foot inside the pub was one thing. The reclusive Malfoy boy with his tagalong and very boisterous friend was another.

"Come here, Allen," he said, reaching for the man. "I'm taking you home."

And then he'd have to come up with some fancy explanation. Like maybe Savitar had left behind some unknown power. No, that would only make Allen worried.

Barry looked around taking everything in. "Hey wait a minute," he says firmly, "what is going on...where are we...how did we get here so fast?" His CSI mind is working overtime. "Is that guy stirring a drink with a spoon that is moving on it's own?"

Right. Of course he wasn't going to just let it go. He grabbed Allen's arm and, instead of apparating them away, guided him firmly towards one of the back booths.

"Stay here," he said firmly before heading to the bar. He ordered a firewhiskey for himself and whatever the strongest they had on tap for Allen. Maybe if he drank enough, he'd forget about being here at all.

"Drink," he said when he returned, placing the drink in front of him.

Barry stared for a second at the beer and did his best not to smirk. He took a long swig and made a face. "Warm beer is disgusting...also your didn't answer my question. Where am I and how did you get here so fast?"

"Who says it's beer?" Julian returned, eyeing Allen's twitching lips. He wouldn't be laughing so much if he knew what was really in it. Now he just needed to get him to drink long enough to get well and truly drunk. After that, it would be easy to explain how what he'd seen here was simply a figment of his imagination.

"You taste what you think you're going to taste. Try it again."

Barry eyed Julian for a second and then took a sip. "Huh....Grandma's Ester's eggnog, heavy hitter version. Nice. This magic is much better then what I've encountered before. That kind always was trying to kill me."

Julian narrowed his eyes. "You've met a wizard before? And still have your memories intact?" The general protocol for the Ministry of Magic was that any muggle who knew about the existence of magic had their memories wiped. He could imagine that sometimes similar was in effect in the States.

So why did Barry remember? And what wizard had been trying to kill him?

"I'm not sure if he was a wizard," Barry says quietly, "he threw magic around though there is no denying that." He sighs. "So if you'd worried I'll talk I won't I promise."

"I'm not worried," Julian said, not quite telling the truth. Of course he was worried. He'd kept his secret for so long now that it seemed almost wrong to be holding his wand, even as it was comforting. Even if he had something to hold over the Flash, it seemed like the people who actively wanted him dead already knew who he was.

But it wasn't what he'd meant by the words.

"I'm surprised your memories were left intact," he explained.

Barry shrugged. "I don't think he was worried about that at the time. It was more about killing me and a friend of mine so we wouldn't stop him from kidnapping this woman he believed belonged to him. His name was Vandal Savage."

"He wouldn't have been the one erasing your memory," Julian replied. Unless the local Ministry didn't know about the use of magic. Still, you'd think with the Flash involved in something like that, they'd have taken notice.

"Wizards deal with their own. Maybe it wasn't magic?"

Either that or Americans were more laid back than he'd come to assume by exposure with their Muggle counterparts.

"He claimed it was and so did this other guy and the girl. Soulmates and gods," Barry says, "he claimed or Ra's Al Ghul did that Savage was immortal. And he killed my friends with this staff. But everyone is fine. Time travel and stuff." He takes another sip of his drink. "And no one came to deal with us later so maybe we got a pass or something."

"And only half of that sounds like magic." Soulmates? Ridiculous. Living forever? Not quite as much, but still improbable. Time travel and staves, maybe. But gods? Utter nonsense. "So, drink your drink and I'll bring us home."

And he'd be considering a quick Obliviate. The last thing he needed was Barry Allen knocking around into his past. If nothing else, he'd end up finding out about Potter and then his universe would explode.

"Since I have your undivided attention,." Barry says with another sip, "and I'm getting the hint that I'm not going to remember this. Who are you really," he asked.

"Julian. Julian Albert. Julian Desmond if you prefer." A lie, of course, but he was still hoping to get out of here before anyone recognized him. If they named him, then he was going to be in trouble.

"Dude come on," Barry said with an eyebrow raise, "I'm not stupid and I might have done a little digging. I've been screwed over by people too many times not to. Unless you murdered someone it doesn't matter who you used to be. I'm just curious."

Julian grimaced and looked away without answering. He would have to bring that up, wouldn't he? He might not have gotten his hands dirty during the war, but he would say he had blood on his hands. One of his right hands, his so-called best friends, had died because they'd followed him. Crabbe and Goyle certainly weren't the smartest people he'd ever known, but they'd been there when he'd needed them. And they couldn't say the same of him.

Barry manages a slight smile. "Look I get that you don't want to tell me. But I'm one of the few people who is going to get what happened to you and I'm really not gonna judge you. Remember I screwed up all of time...I have no right to judge anyone else."

"You screwed up. You didn't try to kill someone." Just because he'd been too much of a coward to go through with it didn't mean he hadn't stood there, pointing his wand at Dumbledore. "You always think in terms of black and white, Allen. Good guys and bad guys. What would you say if I told you I'd been one of the bad guys?"

"I'd ask if you were a bad guy now," Barry says calmly looking his new friend in the eye, "are you here to hurt us or do you want to do better? And for the record I may not have killed someone with my own hands, but enough people have died because of me that the blood is on my hands."

Julian looked away. Why did the bloody do-gooders always seem to cross his path? The universe had to hate him. The next thing you'd know, he'd have Harry Potter sticking his nose into this. Maybe Potter and Allen were exchanging emails. "You make that sound like an either/or question," he finally said, looking back at Allen. "Either I'm here to hurt you or I want to do better. It doesn't work like that. I don't work like that."
