Hogwarts: A Jamjar Meme
![]() HOGWARTS: A JAMJAR MEME Wizards of all ages and from all times: whatever you were doing, wherever you were - none of that matters now. You've been brought to Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. You’ll find yourself in the Great Hall under a starry sky, illuminated by the light of a thousand candles. What happened? Why were you brought here? How were you brought here? All questions to be answered, perhaps. But first, mingle with your kind and find a seat for yourself. This will be your home for a while. Because there is no leaving. Student, staff, you with nothing to do - all of you trapped inside the school grounds. Sorting to houses & Start-of-term feast Those of you who have not been sorted into your houses, you're guided to sit on a stool while an old hat will contemplate a proper house for you. After, you can join your housemates at their long table. The ghost of the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, will soon give a speech once the last student is sorted... "The very best of evenings to you! Now… to our new students, welcome. To our old students, welcome back! Another year full of magical education awaits you…" He will warn you about the anti-curse charm set upon Hogwarts and how it will bring harm in equal measures to yourself. He will urge you to stay calm and have a lemondrop; they’ll be provided at all tables. Dumbledore would like you all to note few things, Hogwarts attendees: 1. This will be a continuous, no commitment necessary “storyline.” What does that mean? Depending on the level of interest, there will be at least one post per month on the 3B-DR that will continue the storyline which begins here. Players are encouraged to make top-levels in the dressing room if they want to keep this verse going with their characters. Madame Rosmerta’s made a tag specifically for this. 2. Multiple versions of characters at various ages are welcome. Whether that means there’s three Harry’s all in fifth year, or one Harry in first year, a second in third year, and a third in sixth year is up to you. All three Harry’s could also interact, depending on player preferences. AU versions of (HP)canon and non-(HP)canon characters are also welcome. Sometimes people disappear from Hogwarts and sometimes they come back. 3. Schoolwork Dumbledore's ghost will invite all characters of age and knowledge to teach their specialties to the younger wizards. If your character could be possibly a teacher, or is interested in teaching, refer to this thread to sign up for a teaching position. The courses do not need to be anything serious (unless you want them to be). If your character would be interested in a course, you can look it up from the character's toplevel. Your character doesn't need to be of student age to participate in courses. (They're free for all!) 4. Sign up for your house. Here is a thread for all the Hogwarts houses that your character could be sorted in. 5. This means… war! Are you a Death Eater? A member of the Order? Rival students? It’s likely your character will encounter someone they don’t get along with. Duels are fine, but beware that any attacks meant to cause harm (curses) will backfire on the caster. If your character doesn’t care that damage will also bounce back to them, then Dumbledore’s ghost will be intervening. He won’t tolerate harm to any of his students… even if it’s harm to Tom. 6. Housecup Of course points will be awarded and taken away by teachers and prefects. You can leave a comment in this thread for the points taken or given. Madam Rosmerta will add them up together for the next post. You can also sign up for a prefect role. Each house has one and that one will change in each post. First come, first serve is the rule, except if your character was a prefect in the last post, you can't sign up in this one.
Name in the title line. Do not leave an empty toplevel. Write a starter like you would to a game event. Link to preferences if you’d prefer. 2. Tag other characters The name of the game is interaction. Why is your character here? Do they want to be here? Are they being reunited with lost loved ones? 3. Have fun! Dumbledore (and Madame Rosmerta) is watching. Behave yourselves. Don’t godmod, infomod, respect other players, etc. |

His mind will catch up soon enough, once it stops spinning.
"I - yeah. He was with Remus, and the rest of the order, they got him out all right. He's here, alive, so.."
no subject
"You kept him safe!" Hugging him tighter, hugging him like she'd hugged James before, until she nearly hugs the life out of him--that's how tight her hold is on her son's godfather. And then, still crying, cheeks wet with tears and face red from the force of her crying, she smacks a kiss on his cheek. "I knew you would! Oh thank you, Sirius! Did he grow up to be handsome?"
no subject
He might never see his son again, but he's at least alive.
Lily's muttering something on the side and James doesn't even listen to her, he just breathes quietly for a moment. Because now he's facing an impossible task here, to learn to live with himself, or exist in death with himself, knowing that he failed his own child.
"Wait..." he pauses, looking up trying catch Sirius' eyes. "He's with Remus?"
no subject
But how can he admit to that now, when she's so happy, so relieved? And when he can hardly force words through his tight throat at all?
"He's - he's perfect," is all Sirius can bring himself to say, before James is speaking again, austere beside him. Sirius nods shallowly. "Yeah. I.. um, I left him with Remus and the Order. Things didn't - didn't go quite as expected, I'm.. I'm not.. "
Alive. Oh Merlin, this is difficult.
no subject
She pulls back to give Sirius a watery smile, her arms still looped around him in a hug. "Perfect." Merlin, her cheeks hurt from that smile. It's like she can imagine Harry in every way, growing up with chubby cheeks and turning into a handsome young man. He must be a heartbreaker.
Though when James speaks, her perfect imaginings shatter. That's--that's one detail she'd missed. Remus. Not Peter, who hadn't betrayed them, but Remus. The one who gave in and essentially brought Voldemort straight to their doorstep. She's staring at James again, pale, her eyes wide and frightened as those moments flash through her mind again.
It's a horrible detail that soon gets expanded upon, but it's not in any way helpful. "Sirius?" she prompts, gripping the fabric of his shirt to keep from trembling.
no subject
Oh Merlin. It's a horrible rollercoaster that is going to wring his heart out of his chest eventually. Devastating horror of realising that he's left his child behind to die alone. Only to hear he's not dead. And then he's with the man who made it all happen?
"Please, mate, just tell us." Have you ever heard James Potter beg? He's about to.
no subject
"We were wrong," he finally says, breathlessly. "It wasn't Remus. It was Peter. He's the one that -" There's a sharp tug in his gut; Sirius has never really forgiven that betrayal, and thinks he never will, but he goes on, after a moment.
"Peter betrayed us. He gave you away the moment we switched, and I came back to try to help the two of you but.. it was too late." Sirius can feel his throat contracting with that old pain; even having them beside him again, he'll never forget the horror of finding them, of nearly tripping over the corpse of his very best mate in his rush back into the ruined home, of the sight of Lily's pretty green eyes lifeless and empty. "It was near on fifteen years ago, for me. Harry survived."
no subject
The air whooshes out of her lungs as if she'd been punched in the gut. She recoils from Sirius as if he'd turned electric, shocking her in the process of this transformation. "But it's Wormy." Peter, a gentle little thing who couldn't possibly hurt a fly. She'd have said the same of Remus, until their suspicions got the best of them.
Still, the more she hears, the more things begin to... to click. She looks away, leaning forward against her thighs, her arms looping around her middle as if to fend off a chill. Fifteen years. Harry'd survived fifteen years, and Sirius--her head whips up.
"You found us? You found Harry? But what happened?" None of this is making any sense!
no subject
But he did live.
He swallows, closing his eyes for a moment and then reaches over Sirius to lay a warm hand on Lily's back. It's sad but their boy survived. He pulls himself together and reaches over to cup Sirius' jaw with one hand, his eyes softening behind his glasses.
"You look horrible, mate. What happened?" he asks quietly, one thumb brushing over Sirius' cheek.
no subject
But they want to know what happened, and Sirius doesn't know where to start. How to begin. There's just so var much. His eyes drop away, distant and thoughtful, until James' fingers are under his chin, tugging him back up, and Sirius' eyes flash toward him, and then Lily, almost guiltily.
"I was gone," he finally says, listlessly, with a shallow shrug. "Locked up. I couldn't take care of him." Sirius' voice is quiet and hollow. Framed or not, Sirius will never stop feeling guilty for failing them, for failing Harry; they'd named him godfather, but the title had proved to be all but useless, hadn't it? What had he done for Harry? He'd been gone from the boy's life for twelve long years, and even after he hadn't been able to look after him, had encouraged him to be reckless, vented his dark moods on him, then gone and gotten himself killed, taken away. Briefly, his gaze flickers again toward Lily. "He lived with your sister."
no subject
How is she expected to interpret that? Petunia? Petunia, with her wretched husband who further turned her sister against her by encouraging those beliefs of her being a freak? The same Petunia who refused to come to hers and James' wedding?
Not that she expects her sister to be cruel to her fam--the blood drains from Lily's face. She wouldn't... couldn't say cruel things to her nephew, could she? Sisters were different. They'd grown up together, and things were said in the heat of the moment that would always be forgiven for. And perhaps Vernon is a terrible man, but her sister wouldn't allow him to settle his beliefs about wizards into her son's mind.
...right?
"She took him in?" she whispers, part hopeful, part wary. A little louder, "She raised my boy?"
But wait-- "You were locked up??"
