Hogwarts: A Jamjar Meme
![]() HOGWARTS: A JAMJAR MEME Wizards of all ages and from all times: whatever you were doing, wherever you were - none of that matters now. You've been brought to Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. You’ll find yourself in the Great Hall under a starry sky, illuminated by the light of a thousand candles. What happened? Why were you brought here? How were you brought here? All questions to be answered, perhaps. But first, mingle with your kind and find a seat for yourself. This will be your home for a while. Because there is no leaving. Student, staff, you with nothing to do - all of you trapped inside the school grounds. Sorting to houses & Start-of-term feast Those of you who have not been sorted into your houses, you're guided to sit on a stool while an old hat will contemplate a proper house for you. After, you can join your housemates at their long table. The ghost of the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, will soon give a speech once the last student is sorted... "The very best of evenings to you! Now… to our new students, welcome. To our old students, welcome back! Another year full of magical education awaits you…" He will warn you about the anti-curse charm set upon Hogwarts and how it will bring harm in equal measures to yourself. He will urge you to stay calm and have a lemondrop; they’ll be provided at all tables. Dumbledore would like you all to note few things, Hogwarts attendees: 1. This will be a continuous, no commitment necessary “storyline.” What does that mean? Depending on the level of interest, there will be at least one post per month on the 3B-DR that will continue the storyline which begins here. Players are encouraged to make top-levels in the dressing room if they want to keep this verse going with their characters. Madame Rosmerta’s made a tag specifically for this. 2. Multiple versions of characters at various ages are welcome. Whether that means there’s three Harry’s all in fifth year, or one Harry in first year, a second in third year, and a third in sixth year is up to you. All three Harry’s could also interact, depending on player preferences. AU versions of (HP)canon and non-(HP)canon characters are also welcome. Sometimes people disappear from Hogwarts and sometimes they come back. 3. Schoolwork Dumbledore's ghost will invite all characters of age and knowledge to teach their specialties to the younger wizards. If your character could be possibly a teacher, or is interested in teaching, refer to this thread to sign up for a teaching position. The courses do not need to be anything serious (unless you want them to be). If your character would be interested in a course, you can look it up from the character's toplevel. Your character doesn't need to be of student age to participate in courses. (They're free for all!) 4. Sign up for your house. Here is a thread for all the Hogwarts houses that your character could be sorted in. 5. This means… war! Are you a Death Eater? A member of the Order? Rival students? It’s likely your character will encounter someone they don’t get along with. Duels are fine, but beware that any attacks meant to cause harm (curses) will backfire on the caster. If your character doesn’t care that damage will also bounce back to them, then Dumbledore’s ghost will be intervening. He won’t tolerate harm to any of his students… even if it’s harm to Tom. 6. Housecup Of course points will be awarded and taken away by teachers and prefects. You can leave a comment in this thread for the points taken or given. Madam Rosmerta will add them up together for the next post. You can also sign up for a prefect role. Each house has one and that one will change in each post. First come, first serve is the rule, except if your character was a prefect in the last post, you can't sign up in this one.
Name in the title line. Do not leave an empty toplevel. Write a starter like you would to a game event. Link to preferences if you’d prefer. 2. Tag other characters The name of the game is interaction. Why is your character here? Do they want to be here? Are they being reunited with lost loved ones? 3. Have fun! Dumbledore (and Madame Rosmerta) is watching. Behave yourselves. Don’t godmod, infomod, respect other players, etc. |

That is, until James practically tackles him onto the bed. It's such a familiar routine that, even with all the complicated emotions he's been feeling, Remus can't help but to laugh. He shoves at James, scrambling to shove parchments and books out of the way lest they get ruined under the onslaught of Prongs. It's good that James isn't acting any different than he would have at seventeen; it makes Remus feel a bit better in the face of all this chaos.
"I'm still N.E.W.T. level," he says with a sigh, shooting James an woefully indignant look. "Wouldn't have minded getting to skip this part, if we're all showing up at different ages. But no, of course I still have to be trapped in sixth year."
Idly, he picks at the hem of his threadbare robes, trying his best not to let the corners of his lips curl down into what could be considered an actual pout. "And how come there are so many of me, anyway? I've only seen one of you and Pads... Did you know he's thirty-five?"

He doesn't help at all with saving those books and papers, but instead lays his weight on Remus with a face splitting grin and hopefully presses him down to the mattress eventually. Because Remus is tiny and squishy and James thoroughly enjoys messing him up.
"You're going to lose your mind, aren't you? Gladly you have yours truly to help you out with your N.E.W.T.s, a gift to the academic wizarding world!" He sticks a thumb to his chest, mostly teasing Remus who probably would find his help too much of a mess to begin with. And yet, no joking that much at all. James would happily help him. He hadn't been that bad with school.
The notion about Sirius makes him laugh, a deep belly laugh that is definitely not apologetic at all. "He's old." James grins. "It suits him, doesn't it?" A wink from the corner of his eye and then he flops down against Remus' bed, looking up at the canopy above. They used to spell silly things up there. It had taken quite a bit of indignant work from McGonagall to get down the permanently sticking charmed pin-up posters from Remus' bed. For a while it had been fun.
He sobers up a little. "He was in Azkaban for twelve years."

At least James is still rambunctious as ever. Remus barely suppresses a yelp of surprise as he's shoved down onto the mattress, squirming beneath a James who has significantly more bulk to him than the last time they wrestled. Not that Remus has ever had much chance against Gryffindor's star Seeker. He finally manages to get an arm free despite James draped bodily across him, tossing a quill at him in retaliation for the jab in the chest.
"He's so old, Prongs!" Remus replies with a laugh, like he's been holding in the thought all day just waiting for the right moment to let it burst out. Still, despite his proclamation (which he very much hopes James won't feel the need to share with Sirius later), he hasn't much to say about how well the age suits Sirius beyond a slight coloring of his cheeks. The mature look does suit him, and Remus has to look away to avoid blurting out something terribly embarrassing about how well Sirius has aged. And toned. And tanned.
Ahem.
He's still staring off across the room when James drops the bomb about Azkeban, and Remus sits up so fast he nearly falls off the bed. "He what?!"

Of course Remus blushes at the thought of old Sirius and James isn't surprised in the slightest. Even James can see it, attractiveness levels skyrocketed somewhere there for Mr. Black in the past decade or so.
"It's kind of unfair. I bet we'd both look just sad at his age. But he's like old wine, finer with age." James laughs, shaking his head.
He pulls Remus right back when he tries to shoot up and holds him tightly, securely. "Yeah. He's been in Azkaban for something he didn't do for twelve years. We should be pretty decent to him, shouldn't we?" Remus is young enough that James isn't going to ruin his future visions by telling him that James actually died before coming here and so did Sirius. Even Remus himself, all dead before they could even reach 40.

He's glad for the feel of James' strong arm around him, offering a tangible sense of security as he gapes, mouth opening and closing several times like a fish out of water. Azkeban? Azkeban? The notion seems absurd, hardly computing in his mind as he searches helplessly for words.
"But, what on earth— Sirius would never—! How could they think—?" He doesn't know what to say, in the end, simply staring at James in horror. Suddenly, all his defensiveness and cool words toward Sirius today seem all too cruel, and he feels like the scum of the earth for having expressed anything other than joy at seeing his friend.

And he would do anything for either of them. Part of him is relieved to know that Remus didn't betray them because he hates the idea of doubting his friends. But part of him is sad to know that it means that Peter was the traitor in the end. The idea that any of them would betray another is ludicrous and still true.
He squeezes Remus against himself a little tighter, feeling guilty for ever doubting him in the first place and wanting to dispell that look of horror from his tired face.
"Think about it," he says quietly. "Sirius probably made it easy for them. Being wrongly accused, angry - imagine how he would have made a big deal out of it. Probably pissed off a lot of people. I don't really know all the details but I can imagine."
